The latest release from The Hip Priests is finally out on CD. Released on Zodiac Killer Records in the US, 5 tracks each from us and Electric Frankenstein. We'll have copies any day now that can be bought through the shop at www.myspace.com/hippriests To be released on lovely 12" vinyl through a European label in the very near future too with completely different artwork. Lovely!
I bought this 883 Sportster not long after I'd passed my test so it was kinda a handful for me at the time. It was built by a guy called Keith Jackson who worked at Harleyworld in Chesterfield and he used to race it in the UK Supermoto Nora-Sport Series!!! The guy was amazing and used to beat so many richboy posers on their blinged up Husabergs. He found it too heavy after a while though and did the following couple of seasons on a Buell instead! That thing used to go like a rocket down the start straight at Blyton and leave most things in the dust. I remember hearing the gasps from the crowd at Cadwell as he'd throw the Buell sideways and back-it-in to the hairpin, the guy was a legend at the time. No idea what became of the Harley though, I sold it to get into Supermoto and have never seen it since?
I go to alot of gigs, always have done and I used to take photos whenever I could. I had this old Sony DSC-S75 digital camera that was pretty bulky but used to take great shots like this lot. At some point I replaced it with a smaller, more modern model but it sucked and I've never found another that took as good pics as my old one. Been looking on Ebay and they only sell for £20 now so I'm tempted to put up with the size of it so I can get good pics again? Oh the photos above from the top are The Hard-Ons, Blaine (Nashville Pussy), Mark Arm (Mudhoney), Euroboy (Turbonegro), Ruyter (Nashville Pussy), The Agenda
...I've had a few Supermotos in my time, this was the range of them. All of them great in their own way, well apart from the DRZ which was too tame and not really in keeping with what motards were about in my opinion. The CRF was just a race bike that I ran on the road with a daylight MOT, fast as fuck but a pain in the arse if it died in traffic. The WR was the perfect mix of road and race bike, great fun on the twisty back roads in Lincolnshire and a blast for trackdays, I was a fool for ever selling that one....
...been meaning to set up a blog for a while as a place to stick all the random stuff I've collected on my laptop over the years. There's a few blogs out there that I read everyday that I've become addicted to (Sideburn, Motorpsycho, Belladonna Trackers, Chico Moto etc) so figured I'd give it a go too and learn as I go. Hopefully it'll be of interest to some people.....
